GO! Borderless Square": a special legal zone for Transalpina/Trg Evrope Square

The heart of the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica-Gorizia 2025 is a special place, a square shared by two countries and therefore subject to the regulations of the two states, Italian and Slovenian: the piazza Transalpina/Trg Evrope. The organisation of events and initiatives on the square can be problematic and administratively complicated, as the organiser must know and follow both Italian and Slovenian regulations.

This is the reason why EGTC GO decided to present to the intitative B-solutions the case "GO! Borderless Square”. Participation in this initiative, which aims to tackle the legal and administrative obstacles on the internal borders of the EU, led to the creation of schematic and clear instructions for the organisation of events on the square, listing the rules to be followed and the necessary forms, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the use of the square.

B-solutions projects are promoted by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and managed by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), and is developed through calls for proposals to tackle obstacles to cross-border cooperation.
