GO! borderless in the AEBR compendium

The Association of European Border Region has announced the publication of the Compendium for the years 2022-2023, of all border region obstacles that have been analyzed and addressed through the B solutions initiative.

The publication, which presents 41 cases addressed between 2022 and 2023, provides a better understanding of the current obstacles to the realization of a borderless Europe. The purpose is to demonstrate the need to address differences in legal frameworks on both sides of the border and that of sharing the experiences of regions and actors involved in cross-border cooperation who seek to raise awareness of legal and administrative obstacles to cross-border integration and cooperation.

Among the cases reviewed, the first pages also include the case addressed by EGTC GO "GO! Borderless Square" regarding the cross-border square placed between Italy and Slovenia: the Transalpina square, trg Evrope.

Organizing cultural events on a square divided between two states involves several problems, as there are different laws and procedures to be known and respected in different states.

As part of the B-solutions project GO! Borderless Square the EGTC GO produced a vademecum that provides detailed instructions on the procedures to be filled out and links to application schemes to public authorities, to enable everyone to navigate different and complex administrative procedures.

At the same time, a comparison of the administrative and regulatory procedures required for the implementation of events in both Italy and Slovenia was carried out in order to understand the preconditions for the establishment of an ad hoc legislative framework in the form of a joint agreement between the relevant authorities defining a simplified model for the management of common spaces.

The compendium and narrative brochure are accessible on the AEBR website in the online library: Library | b-solutionsproject(link) and now also on the EGTC GO website (link).
