The Interreg project BorderLabs CE has kicked-off
On June 6 and 7 the project BorderLabs CE - Participatory cross-border governance for transition management in central European cross-border regions project, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg Central Europe program, was presented in Meissen (Germany).
Lead partner of the project is the Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development (DE), along with project partners: the Central European Service for Cross-Border Initiatives (HU), Dolnoslaskie-Region-Institute for Territorial Development (PL), Euregion Nisa-Česko (CZ), City of Frankfurt Oder (DE), GECT GO (IT), Ister-Granum European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation Ltd. (HU), European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation NOVUM (PL), State Government of Upper Austria (AT).
EGTC GO will carry out a pilot action to establish a model for cross-border development of sustainable and slow tourism. The strategic objective that EGTC intends to achieve is to take advantage of the visibility given by the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) 2025 to develop a type of tourism based on sustainability and cycling mobility of the entire cross-border area of EGTC GO and neighboring municipalities.
The project is worth about 1.7 million euros, 80 percent of which is covered by Interreg funds and 20 percent by the project partners. Activities started in June 2024 and will end in November 2026.
