The XXII International Wine Competition “Città del Vino” this year in Gorizia
Gorizia opens its doors to the XXII International Wine Competition “Città del Vino” and V Grappa Award. From Friday, May 31st, to Sunday, June 2nd, from 5pm to 9 pm, wine enthusiasts will be able to taste a special selection of wines at the headquarters of the Unione Ginnastica Goriziana in Via Giovanni Rismondo 2.
Previous editions of the competition have taken place in Italy's most important Wine Cities. The aim is to enhance the relationship between wine and territory, in fact both the wineries and the municipalities are awarded during the ceremony.
An unrepeatable opportunity to taste the same wines that were submitted to the Competition, with the wonderful landscape of Gorizia to complete the atmosphere: this will be the three evenings, open to the public, when you can discover both Italian and international wine excellence. Over 450 types of wine per evening, a total of 1300 varieties that will be offered to the public. The entrance fee is 20 €, including a glass, a bag and unlimited tastings.
A special wine auction will be held on Sunday, June 2nd. The proceeds from this event will be donated for the reforestation of wooded areas affected by the 2022 wildfires. The perfect occasion to celebrate the Festa delle Repubblica (Italian Republic day) by experiencing a foretaste of the charm and hospitality of Nova Gorica – Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025.
The event will be held at the headquarters of the Unione Ginnastica Goriziana on Giovanni Rismondo Street, 2 - for a weekend of sharing and generosity.
The event is organized by the national association Città del vino through its Friuli Venezia Giulia arm (which boasts 39 member municipalities and 6 Pro Loco in the region) together with PromoTurismoFVG and GECT GO, in collaboration with Unidoc FVG, Assoenologi, Ais FVG, Consorzio Tutela vini Friuli Colli Orientali and Ramandolo, Consorzio Collio, Isis Pertini Monfalcone, Pro Loco Gorizia, Unpli FVG and with the support of Bank 360 FVG.
