Flores Musicae 2024 – Medieval and renaissance music festival SUPRA-TERRESTRIAL SOUNDSCAPES GOMBAČ – RAON (Slovenia – Portugal) Boštjan Gombač, duduk, reconstruction of the oldest musical instrument in the world, clarinet, bass clarinet, melodica, whistle, lyre, pocket trumpet, winged trumpet, bodhran, voice, acoustics Eduardo Raon, harp and electronics Boštjan Gombač is a well-known personality to Slovenian audiences. The ” without borders ” woodwind player has recorded 140 albums with a wide variety of ensembles in his rich and eclectic 20-year career, and in 2017 he was awarded the Prešeren Fund Prize. This year’s Gombač-Raon project will be much more than the art of two musicians, on two instruments. As artists, they are undoubtedly “special” among classically trained musicians, as their restless creative spirit is constantly pushing them into new challenges, new projects and, above all, into new soundscapes and new worlds. This kind of realm is sure to be followed by a surprising musical experience: in concert, the two artists will perform their own original compositions, which combine music they have created for film and theatre, and even improvisation. Their performance can be described as a film with long takes that take the audience from the melancholic sounds of the Armenian duduk, through a reconstruction of the oldest musical instrument, to the sounds of nature, birds, wind, as they wander through soundscapes with harp and electronics and various instruments and soundscapes.
