Friendship Skate

As part of the celebrations for the EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2025 NOVA GORICA - GORIZIA, the March for Europe kicks off—a series of cultural, sporting, and gastronomic events designed to bring the city to life. Be part of the inaugural Friendship Skate - 2 Cities, 1 Heart, making its debut alongside the Friendship March organized by A.S.D. Gruppo Marciatori Gorizia.
For the third year, this symbolic event will unite Nova Gorica and Gorizia. The Friendship Skate honors the spirit of the legendary cross-border marches of the 1970s and 1980s when thousands crossed the border each year without checks. Today, the two cities are building a shared future, and this event continues to stand as a symbol of unity, healthy living, and community.
The skate will cover an approximately 15 km route through the streets of both cities, crossing the border in a new and exciting way—on your wheels!

Join us and experience the thrill of skating across two cities while celebrating a shared future! InlineSkatersFVG is a passionate group of inline skating enthusiasts dedicated to promoting the sport across Friuli Venezia Giulia.
We aim to encourage eco-friendly, healthy movement while organizing exciting skating events for all levels.
We’re not a formal sports association or company, but rather a close-knit community of friends united by our love for skating. We’re also part of the larger national movement PPUG Pattiniamo l’Italia, a network of associations and informal groups that fosters amateur skating initiatives for people of all ages and abilities.
The focus is on organizing scenic outings and interregional events, often on bike paths and low-traffic roads, to explore local landscapes.
Our flagship event is the renowned “ALPE ADRIA” Skate, held annually on the breathtaking Alpe Adria cycle path that spans Italy, Slovenia, and Austria.
This event has grown year after year, attracting participants from all over Italy regions like Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Puglia, Sicily, Veneto, and beyond.
Throughout the years, our skaters have taken part in a variety of competitive and fitness events on regional, national, and international levels, including the BMW Berlin Marathon Inlineskating, the 21k Roller Run Trieste, the World Skate Games Speed Marathon Tour, and the Ljubljana Inline Skating Half Marathon.
But it’s not all about competition! We also love organizing fun, lighthearted rides, such as spreading festive cheer in our cities during Christmas dressed as Santas, Christmas trees, and elves, or donning creative costumes during Carnival, bringing smiles to everyone we meet.
The bright blue color of our official shirts, which stand out on the roads, represents the vibrant Isonzo River.
Our mottos reflect our spirit: “Helmet always on” to remind everyone of the importance of safety, and the playful “Fancul le plôe” (roughly “To hell with the rain”), which has become well-known across Italy.
