Aldo Kumar was born on 20 October 1954 in Travnik on the Idrijca River. At the Jurij Vega Gymnasium in Idrija, he decided to study music while attending the lectures of Professor Maks Pirnik. He first enrolled at the Pedagogical Academy in Ljubljana, where he was strongly influenced by professors Jakob Jež and Lojze Lebič, and later at the Academy of Music, where he studied music pedagogy and composition under Alojz Srebotnjak. He studied in Poland with the composers B. Schaeffer and K. Mayer. He is one of the most performed Slovenian composers. In addition to composing concert music, he is also a professor at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television at the University of Ljubljana. His compositions will be performed by the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir under the direction of Ana Erčulj.
