2nd Edition International Road Race Running Match U23

On Sunday 20 October 2024, the enchanting city of Trieste will welcome all the athletes of the 2nd Edition International Road Race Running Match U23. 

Thanks to the collaboration with Fidal, this race has become part of the official World Athletics calendar, welcoming national U23 teams from several European nations to a major international event. The invitation to participate was extended to all international federations. This competition is a memorable event in the international running calendar involving the European U23 national teams and unique in Italy. Each team will consist of the best four male and four female athletes from each nation.

The adventure runs from the Miramare Castle to the glorious San Giusto Castle, dedicated to the city's patron saint. The fast and flowing route will lead the runners to the majestic Piazza Unità, continuing through the vibrant heart of the city through picturesque alleys to the San Giusto Castle.

Regulations:
Each federation may enter a minimum of three athletes in the final national ranking. The men's and women's ranking will be separate. Only three athletes will score. The team ranking will be determined by the aggregation of the placings recorded by the athletes of each team: 1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, etc.). The team with the lowest number of points will be deemed the winner. If a team does not arrive at the finish line with a complete score, it will not be ranked in the team result. Athletes who reach the finish line will be counted as individuals in the race result and will be entitled to individual placement.

In the event of a tie between two nations, the best individual placing will be considered. 
Men's race: 10 km
Women's race: 10 km 

Prize-giving:
Prizes will be awarded to the first three male athletes, the first three female athletes and the first three nations.

Opening ceremony and presentation of national teams: Saturday 19 October 2024 at 16.30 Piazza Unità d'Italia.
Race start: Sunday 20 October 2024 at 9.50 a.m. Miramare Castle.
Prize-giving ceremony: Sunday 20th October at 11.30 a.m. Piazza Unità d'Italia.
