Crossroads of Europe - Orphan My Town

Crossroads of Europe - Orphan My Town

2/2/2025

An itinerant and audio-guided performance (with wi-fi headphones), developed by the 47/04 Association, to discover Gorizia and the border that runs through it. The history of a border city, which became a border town during the 20th century. Fundamental are the testimonies of Italians and Slovenes who lived in this area, from the beginning of the century until the end of World War II.

A walk through the memories of the places, architecture and public and private spaces that marked this history. From the Habsburg city to the Great War, from the rise of border fascism to the complex events at the end of World War II. Until September 1947, when the white line of the new separation between Italy and Yugoslavia was drawn, the last stretch of the Iron Curtain.
