The story of Medot will be revealed as you journey through the renovated wine cellar and taste wines and sparkling wines in the tasting room, which offers magnificent views of all sides of the vineyards of the Brda wine-growing region, bordered by the first row of the oldest Rebula vines. It was here, at the Medot homestead, that the internationally renowned oenologist Zvonimir Simčič, who was also the mastermind and long-time director of the Brda Cooperative Winery, was born and worked. His vision, knowledge and determination have led him to preserve the indigenous Rebula and to lead it into a golden age and the flourishing of the whole region, earning him the respect of the profession and the title of 'Father of Rebula'. Upon his retirement, he poured all his rich experience and knowledge into his first sparkling wines, produced in the classic method on the basis of Rebula, in his home vineyard. Thus Medot was born. Medot, now run by his grandson Simon Simčič, swears by elegance and harmony, and remains faithful to Rebula, which you can taste in the quiet wines Rebula Journey and Rebula Golden Époque, as well as in the classic Medot sparkling wines, characterised by longer bottle age and distinctive complex flavours with silky, elegant bubbles. The tasting room with terrace is also suitable for large groups, celebrations, events and teambuilding, with ample parking and its own electric vehicle charging station.
