Ca'Tullio

Vineyards facing the Adriatic Sea, on generous land. A winery located in a city so rich in tradition : Aquileia.

Ca' Tullio: a story that begins in 1928 The origins of Ca' Tullio winery date back to the late nineteenth century and was to experience an astounding development in farming and winemaking in 1928, with the Tullio family.

At the time, it was one of the most significant economic realities in the area, so much so that there was no Aquileian who did not have at least one relative working there. This imposing and functional four-storey structure enjoyed a flourishing period for the production of fruit, vegetables, vine rootstocks (Kober) and grains, but above all for the tobacco drying business. On the earth floor, inside the cells, a bed of embers covered with sheet metal was placed to heat the room. The leaves of the tobacco plant thus dehydrated and were then hung in long rows of hanging ropes. In 1990 Mr. Walter Calligaris bought the building and turned it into a winery. 

At the helm of the business today is the Calligaris family with their son Paolo and grandsons Giacomo and Emanuele. The vineyards extend between the terroirs of the DOC Friuli Aquileia and DOC Friuli Colli Orientali areas. Different places but with a common language that speaks of tradition and attachment to the land.
