CASTELVECCHIO

Castelvecchio

This Venetian Villa was owned by the Counts of the Valsassina della Torre Hofer Hohenlohe. It was built in the second half of the 18th century on a hill above Sagrado at 145 mt, now surrounded by 120 hectares of greenery. The vineyards, the olive groves and the park with oaks, secular trees, and donkeys create a wonderful environment for leisurely strolls. In this area the visitor will also be able to find a temple and a fountain hidden amongst the trees.

The traces of the Battles of the Isonzo River are visible on the marbles of the Villa, which during World War I was transformed into a hospital for wounded soldiers. Those who visit us can walk in the Ungaretti’s Park and read the poems of “Porto Sepolto” while walking surrounded by scenic views of the Alps to the North and the Gulf of Trieste to the South from sunrise to sunset.

There are two types of accommodation in our farm: inside the Villa Veneta for a more romantic and prestigious staying, or in the mini apartments in the house surrounded by olive trees for a more rustic experience.

For e-bike lovers, renting is available for excursions in the Carso of Gorizia and Trieste areas. Organic wine, extra-virgin olive oil and honey made from the local flora and fauna are available for sale both on the farm and online. We offer tastings of our products upon reservation.
