The village provides excellent starting point for biking, hiking, trips to the mountains and walks through unspoilt countryside. With a bike you can go up till the end of Baska grapa or on Šentviška planota. You can walk through the forest roads, which offer a range of delights to mushroom colectors and observers of birds and animals. Lovers of the mountains can go hiking from Podmelec onto the nearby hills (Jalovnik, Tlaka, Kobilja glava, Kotel, etc.). Hang gliders and parachutists can release the adrenaline to the launch site Kobala, only a kilometer away. On the river Bača, that flows some 100 m below the village is possible fishing. As well in Idrijca and Soča. Near the village there is a waterfall Sopota, which is 62 m high. In the nearby village Klavže you can see the old smithy, which was converted into a museum, gorges of the river Bača and the military cemetery "na Rutu". You can also walk up to the source of the spring of healing water called Dicova voda.
