Cerovo

Visit the village of Gornje Cerovo, the Church of St. Nicholas with Baroque and Venetian-style decorations, and the Church of St. Leonard in Dolnje Cerovo.

When you visit, you will certainly not be disappointed by the town of Gornje Cerovo, which was mentioned as early as 1205, when the area in front of today's church of St. Nicholas was owned by the Cerovo lords. It was given its present appearance in 1754, with baroque pilasters, wreaths and an altar. The two marble side altars are based on Venetian designs. The circular path around the walls is also very interesting. We also recommend a visit to Dolnje Cerovo, where you can ask the local people about Leonard, patron saint of prisoners and all those who were imprisoned, and learn more stories about it. The church is also surrounded by walls from where you can see Brda from all sides. The remains of the ruins of the former castle are also visible next to the church, where a picturesque staircase leads up. In the immediate vicinity, interesting stone masonry details that could be attributed to the castle's architecture were found during the demolition of the house, as well as a small purse containing 97 silver coins from various mints and countries dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.
