HOUSE OF CULTURE

Within the walls of the medieval village of Šmartno is the House of Culture, which hosts various exhibitions by local and foreign artists, cultural events and art workshops. On the ground floor is a large hall with a seating capacity of 100. On the first floor is the Oljčni bar Šmartno, refreshment room, and on the second floor is a gallery with regular exhibitions. OLJČNI BAR ŠMARTNO is the only one of its kind in Slovenia. Guided tastings of extra virgin olive oil are offered daily. Each visitor is taught how to taste and identify the oil's positive properties, and you can try their speciality, the house dessert - walnut cake with olive oil and orange, with carefully selected local delicacies and Brda dishes such as white polenta with toast, “tagičeva kuhnja”, “jota” and cold cuts. They also organise team building, training, festivals, culinary workshops, events and lectures.
