Parish Church of St. George, Gradno

Take some time to visit the Church of St. George, where the Stations of the Cross were painted by the world-famous painter Zoran Mušič, and part of the painting is by the painter and graphic artist Lojze Spacal. Church of St. George is located in Dolanje Gradno, and is surrounded by the walls of the former cemetery on three sides. Its façade overlooks the slightly lower village square, shaded by tall wild chestnut trees in the summer breeze. On the church walls is a memorial plaque to the priest, national awakener, publicist and schoolmaster Andrej Žnidarčič, who worked to curb the penetration of the Italian spirit organised in the Legia Nazionale and who served in Gradno for 28 years.
