Jerusalem on the Isonzo – Gorizia Synagogue

A museum with objects, books, photographs, and historical documents about the history of Gorizian Judaism and its community.
The Jerusalem on the Isonzo - Synagogue of Gorizia has ritual objects, handmade goods, books, photographs and prints concerning the history of Hebraism and its representatives in Gorizia.
The synagogue, built in 1756, was used by the Hebrew community until 1969, when it was incorporated with the Trieste synagogue; nowadays it is no longer a place of worship. The museum, located on the ground floor of the building, presents the Hebrew history in Gorizia through the centuries, by means of information areas and didactic panel.
On the first floor, which preserves its 18th century characteristics with marbles, friezes and original furniture, it is possible to admire the Women's Gallery and the Holy Ark, turned towards Jerusalem.
