Visit the museum of Buttrio and its selection of objects, documents, and iconographic testimonies about the world of vineyards and wine. The collection was donated to the Municipality by Geremia Nonini.
The Museum of Wine Civilisation in Friuli Venezia Giulia, located in Buttrio since 1998 and recently renovated on November 25 2023, houses a curated collection of 3,500 items including objects, documents, and visual representations related to the world of vineyards and wine. These pieces are part of a significant heritage donated to the Municipality by Geremia Nonini.The new exhibition spans three floors of the west wing of Villa di Toppo Florio and offers an educational journey exploring the nature and significance of wine, along with the history of grape cultivation and wine production. The ground floor features a welcoming reception area managed by the IAT Office, with accessibility provided by an elevator for visitors with disabilities.
The museum itinerary is completed with a spacious multipurpose hall dedicated to journalist Isi Benini, offering opportunities for wine tasting, and showcasing regional wines, with the opportunity to host wine-related events and conferences as well as multimedia screenings. Furthermore, the museum boasts a well-stocked library, featuring an extensive collection of over 1,000 volumes and periodicals, exploring various facets of viticulture and winegrowing.
