Villa Cigolotti

Visit the noble country residence dating back to the 18th century, consisting of three areas: the Villa, the Barchessa (the ancient stables and the barn), and the Park.

Villa Cigolotti  is a beautiful example of a noble country estate from the eighteenth century. The first stone was laid in 1740, commissioned by the Count Cigolotti family, which was in the timber supply sector in the western area of Friuli and a purveyor for the Venetian Republic. The current owners restored the building and transformed it into a resort. The resort is composed of three elements: the Villa (stately home), the Barchessa (the old stables and hay barn) and the Park. The rooms in the villa are exquisitely decorated with 19th frescoes and 18th century mosaic floors. The entire complex is surrounded by a park with centuries-old trees enclosed by a wall with a rectangular layout made entirely of Friuli stones.
The villa is at the center of the small village of Basaldella di Vivaro, adjacent to the town square with the local church. The villa can be accessed from the square through the carved stone archway topped by the stele of the House of Cigolotti.
