The Cerje educational trail
Educational trail suitable for families.
The Cerje educational trail offers a fun experience of getting to know the rich flora of the Miren Kras. On a 3 km-long hiking tour, which is suitable for both younger children and older outdoor enthusiasts, you will learn to identify native and invasive plants that grow here, including species that are poisonous to humans. Creators of the educational trailThe learning path was prepared by the students of the Nova Gorica Secondary School under the mentorship of art teachers and a biology professor, with the help of a professor of informatics, school janitors and maintenance workers. The Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation was included when designing the content.
Route of the educational trailFrom the parking lot along the local road Miren - Opatje selo, continue along the paved road in the direction of the Monument of Peace in Cerje. Shortly after the wooden bench which is on the left side of the road, you will notice the first information board of the educational trail. You continue along the same path past another sign and a little further, at the stone marker (monument on the left), you choose the path that branches off to the right side of the road. The introductory content board of the Cerje Learning Path is situated there. You continue along the path to the asphalted crossing, next to which you can admire the olive groves, and the road leads on one side to Lokvica and on the other to the Monument of Peace in Cerje. You choose the direction towards the Monument od Peace, where the last two boards are placed. The educational trail ends at another crossing, where you can continue your journey to the Monument or choose a direction to the right towards the starting point in the parking lot.
