Themed trails through Miren Kras

Between standing waters and wells to the soul of Karst.

The character of Miren Kras has been formed by the Vipava River in the north lowland section, on the south side, the landscape and life were impacted by the karst surface. Easy themed trails discover the story of wells (“štirne”) and water pools in the middle of the wild karst nature. The local communities have always been puzzled by how to access permanent sources of water that are considered as real treasure in the Karst region. You can go on short walks in the triangle leading from Kostanjevica na Krasu to Vojščica and Sela na Krasu.

The first trail runs from Kostanjevica na Krasu to Kalič, where many animals, from does to birds, bees and butterflies, drink water. The second trail from Vojščica to Seli na Krasu starts at the Poščenik water reservoir and the well with water spring. Descend along the marked trail to Selo na KRasu, stop at Kal and continue amidst the karst common lands and vineyards to Vojščica. There, you can try the third themed trail. Descend to the village from the water reservoir in Vojščica. The trail runs between the vines and across meadows to Kal na Stajcah. After resting on a bench, you can go round the Žnidarjev hrib hill to Soline where the trail started.
