Multimedia Exhibition ‘Lasciapassare Prepustnica’ History And Memories Of A Border Town

A photographic and multimedia exhibition to discover the history of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and the border crossing. A journey through the memories of witnesses and images of the time, inside a small pass, one of the symbolic places of Europe, first divided and then reunified.

The new museum, built at the historic border hut at the Rafut pass, was created precisely to enhance one of the city's symbolic spaces in view of GO!2025.

The new project has a number of panels on display outside, concerning the history of the city of Gorizia and its border, as well as a multimedia and photographic installation inside, with interviews and thematic itineraries:

Outdoor space - History of a border community

In the courtyard at the back of the border crossing is a special photographic exhibition, consisting of hundreds of circular panels in a pathway that interweaves different ‘narrative lines’ concerning the history of Gorizia in the 20th century, historical facts, memories and photographic images of the time.

First room - Immersive experience

Archive images are projected on a single large screen divided in two by a white line, the actual symbol of the division. On one side and on the other, two points of view, the Italian and the Yugoslav. A visual and audio immersion in the decisive days in which the new border dividing Gorizia was born, in the rhetoric that marked public speeches, in the emotions preserved in the faces and gestures of the Gorizians.

Second room - Interactive exhibition ‘Fragments of memory

Composed of 5 exhibits, available to visitors who are invited to move them one at a time to the centre of the table, triggering the projection of video-interviews capable of recalling stories and memories, fragments of those lives lived in Gorizia and Nova Gorica, the old town and the new town, divided and united by the border line.
