Lože Castle

Now isolated and abandoned, the castle was built in the 12th century as a residence for noble families.

Lože Castle

The village of Lože is a stone’s throw away from Vipava and surprises visitors with a hilltop castle which unfortunately fell into dereliction. A medieval court was built on this site as early as the 12th century. Circa 1675, Janez Filip Cobenzl commissioned the construction of a mansion which continued to be the residence for a string of wealthy families until the Second World War.
