Karel Štrekelj’s Memorial Room in Gorjansko
This is where the famous collector of Slovenian folk poems and songs started creating.
The memorial room of this prominent Slovenian linguist, publicist, Slavic scholar and ethnographer Karel Štrekelj, PhD (1859–1912) is located in his birth house.
The exhibition shows his life journey. Besides a collection of Slovenian folk poems and songs in four books, that comprise his best known and most praised work, the exhibition includes his other, equally important creations. In memory of the 150th anniversary of Štrekelj’s birth, a sculpture of his bust made by Mirsad Begić was unveiled in front of his birth house.
