One of the challenges identified in the cross-border area is the need to give equal status to the Italian and Slovenian languages. In this regard, the Kiss & GO! project aims to improve passive bilingualism in the population through cross-border events. Using an innovative approach based on IT technologies and direct interactions, the partners will implement an app to informally discover the neighbor's language. Project activities include the installation of an interactive multimedia display in four shopping malls in both Italy and Slovenia, an 'app that will take the form of a mini Italian and Slovenian language course using typical game methodologies to stimulate learning, a mini dictionary of common dialect terms, and a promotional campaign with visual gadgets to promote bilingualism. The goal is to increase interest in learning minority languages and improve the perception of language use in the cross-border territory.
The project is financed by the European Union through the GO! 2025 Small Project Fund of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme, managed by the EGTC GO.
