02.08.2025

WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING IN NOVA GORICA AND GORIZIA?

General information
Road closures will be strictly limited to locations of the parade, with parking spaces provided along the parade route and throughout both cities the entire day.

In addition, two regulations have introduced a ban on the use of glass and cans in the festival area and an exception in noise limits.

Road closures

NOVA GORICA

The following streets will be closed in Nova Gorica for the opening of the European Capital of Culture

  • Kidričeva Ulica, from the roundabout with Ulica Tolminskih puntarjev and Erjavčeva Ulica to the OTP Bank: from Friday 7 February, from 6:00 to Sunday 9 February, until 12:00.
  • Erjavčeva Ulica, from the border crossing to the roundabout with Kidričeva Ulica and Ulica Tolminskih puntarjev: Saturday, February 8, from 12:00 to 15:00.
  • Ulica Tolminskih puntarjev, from the roundabout with Kidričeva Ulica and Erjavčeva Ulica to the junction with Gregorčičeva Ulica: Saturday 8 February from 6:00 to Sunday 9 February until 8:00.

All citizens are kindly requested to use Kidričeva Ulica only in case of emergency in the part of the street where traffic will be open in order to avoid traffic congestion.

GORIZIA

Traffic restrictions in the morning:

  • The cross-border parade will start at 10:00 at the beginning of Korzo Italia near Saba Square. The roundabout will remain open except during the gathering of the participants. Korzo Italia will therefore be closed from 9.00 a.m. onwards, without interfering with the operation of school buses.
  • Parking will be possible on the whole of Via Corso Italia except for a short stretch in front of the Verdi Theatre.
  • Korzo Italia, Korzo Verdi and Oberdan Streets will be closed during the parade and will reopen after the parade ends, presumably before 12.00.

Traffic restrictions in the afternoon:

  • Arcivescovado, Carducci, Piazza De Amicis, Pellico, Medaglie d'oro and San Gabriele will be closed at 13.15.

Traffic restrictions throughout the day:

  • On the Meadow, between the junction with Mameli Street and Oberdan Street and Roma Street, there will be a driving and parking ban from the morning until the end of the event.
  • Parking will also not be allowed all day in Musina Square in front of the PalaBrumatti and in Cesare Battisti Square.

Security

In order to ensure safety during the events, an ordinance has been issued to prohibit the usage and sale of alcohol and other beverages in glass bottles and cans, on Saturday 8 from 9:30 to 21:00 in Piazza Vittoria, from 21:00 to midnight in Piazza Transalpina, and on Sunday 9 from 11:00 to 20:30 in Piazza Vittoria. Exceptions will be made for public establishments within their own area (inside the premises, counter service or within authorised and appropriately delimited dehors). Within the area, it is forbidden to carry and consume drinks in glass bottles and cans.

Exceptions in noice limits

On the occasion of the festivities, an exception to the noise emission limits will also be in force for musical activities and for the setting-up and dismantling of event-related structures. The measure will be valid on Saturday 8 February from 10:00 to midnight and on Sunday 9 February from 17:00 to 23:00. The exemption for setting up, dismantling and musical rehearsals will also be valid on the four days preceding and the four days following Saturday 8 February, from 8:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00.
