A Day Dedicated to Nora Gregor

A series of events in memory of Nora Gregor.
Ends 3/8/2025
On the anniversary of her birth, 3 February 2025, we will honour Nora Gregor with a series of events: a lecture, a film screening, and a cinematic walk through the streets of Gorizia, designed as a journey through the milestones of her fascinating life. The event will take place in several locations around Gorizia, such as: the Palace of Film, Kinemax Gorizia, BorGO Cinema. The event will also take place on 22 February, 1 and 8 March.
On 3 February, the film walk series starts as part of the Cinematheque Nostro cine quotidiano – Naš vsakdanji kino (Our Everyday Cinema) project. The series consists of five walks dedicated to the stories, characters, places and films that have marked the history of film culture in Gorizia and Nova Gorica.
The first walk will be dedicated to the film and theatre actress Nora Gregor, who was born in Gorizia on 3 February 1901 and died in Chile in 1949. Nora Gregor is considered one of the most important actresses of her time, working both in Europe and in Hollywood. She played some important roles, for example in Carl Theodor Dreyer's Michael (1924) and Jean Renoir's classic The Rules of the Game (1939). Her life story reveals a multicultural and multilingual Gorizia, where different influences intertwined until the turmoil of war changed the fate of the town and its inhabitants. As the event will coincide with her birthday, the walk will be further enriched by special guests, such as the Gorizian singer Gabriella Gabrielli and the publicist Hans Kitzmüller, who has dedicated several publications to her.
The walk will start on Monday, 3 February, at 15:30, when a bilingual walk in Slovene and Italian start will start from the BorGO Cinema in Rastello. With the film ambassadors, participants will explore the multicultural environment of Gorizia, where Nora Gregor spent her childhood. This will be an opportunity to discover the hidden corners of the city and the incredible life of this film and theatre star. At the end of the walk, we will celebrate her birthday and the opening of the film walk series with cake. At 18:00, in the premises of the Gorizia Kinemax, the film researcher and theoretician Paolo Caneppele will lead a special meeting entitled Nora's Tears.
The number of places is limited, so registration is required via the online form.
The event is part of GO! 2025 official programme.
