Girls (Cure; documentary performance)

Girls (Cure; documentary performance)

On 31 August, Slovenian National Theatre of Nova Gorica will present a performance entitled Girls (Cure).

Fino al 31/08/2024

The Gotropolis Festival will host the performance Girls (Cure), which draws on the testimonies of three generations of women through their personal stories of change over time. This time, the authors deal with the themes of growing up, first sexual experiences and sex education of several generations of women. They are interested in what the loss of virginity meant for different generations, how much they feared unwanted pregnancies and what support they had in discovering their sexuality. Through the intimate discovery of family stories, the authors and performers encounter shame, pleasure and silence, while inviting us to talk about things we don't usually talk about.

Through the personal stories of women, Girls charts the changing times and socio-political systems. In Croatia today, women's reproductive and sexual rights are seriously threatened and the question is: where are we going, or will the education of future generations become more and more like that of our grandmothers? In addition to talking to grandmothers and mothers, the authors were also inspired by workshops with current teenage girls growing up in Rijeka.
