GO! ANIMACIKEL – Nova Gorica 2025

International animation workshop and animated bike ride.

Animacycle is an international animation workshop for students, followed by a public screening of animated works. Its special feature is the projection of animations onto urban surfaces from bicycles. It was first held in 2017 in Banjaluka, then in Zagreb at the Animafest International Festival, in the framework of the European Capital of Culture 2020 in Rijeka and in Jagodina as part of the Animator Fest. The Nova Gorica edition is linked to the project European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia, organised in the framework of the GO! Studio project (SPF).

Animated Bike Walk: 10 April 2025, from 19:30 to 22:00.
International Student Workshop: 7–11 April 2025.

The workshop will culminate in a public event planned for Thursday, 10 April 2025, after 19:45 (sunset). At that time, we will set off from the front of the Academy of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica into the urban environment and share the resulting animations in an innovative way. The animations will be projected from a (moving) vehicle onto the facades, streets and trees of the city. We will be accompanied by a group of cyclists and pedestrians who will ride/walk alongside the vehicles with a projector, stopping briefly at a few points, and ending at Bevkov Square.

The whole event will last about 1,5 to 2 hours.

We will start at the UNG Academy of Arts in Rožna Dolina, continue through the Kostanjevica tunnel and finish with a longer screening in the centre of Nova Gorica, on Bevkov Square.
