GORIZIAN CARNIVAL: SUNDAY 23rd PARADE AND BIG PARTY
On Sunday 23 February at 2 p.m., the parade of floats and masked groups of the 35th Gorizia Carnival will begin. Over 1,700 masks from Italy and Slovenia will be involved, with 12 allegorical floats, 17 large masked dance groups and 2 musical bands.

Three of the big novelties this year are the new parade route, which is the opposite of previous years, starting from Corso Verdi, passing through Corso Italia, Via XXIV Maggio, Via Nazario Sauro, Piazza del Municipio, Via de Gasperi, Via Roma, and ending in Piazza Vittoria. Here there will be the second big novelty: from 5.30 p.m. the Grand Carnival Party will be held under a marquee, dedicated not only to all the participants in the parade but also to the general public of children and adults who accompany and attend the event every year.
The highlight, around 7pm, will be the awarding of prizes to the best floats and groups and the crowning of the winners of the 2025 edition of the Gorizia Carnival. The party will then continue until 11pm. The third new feature is the direct involvement of carnival groups from nearby Slovenia, Opatje Selo, Bilje and Tolmin.

Carnival Party
5.30 p.m. - Music and dancing under the marquee in Piazza Vittoria
7 p.m. - Awards ceremony for the winning floats and groups
Monday 3 March
Children's Carnival
2.30 pm - Gathering of children in front of the Teatro Verdi (Via Garibaldi) and parade (Corso Verdi, Via Oberdan and Piazza Vittoria)
3.30 p.m. - FESTIVAL IN THE PIAZZA masked competition, entertainment, magic games and face painting
5.30 p.m. - Children's film screening at Kinemax (single admission EUR 3.50)
Wednesday 5 March
Funeral of King Carnival
4.00 p.m. Oration of the Notary, in front of the Town Hall, itinerant music with the ‘Furlans a Manete
4.45 p.m. Reading of the Testament, Cremation of King Carnival and rebechin in the ‘Sagra di San Rocco’ area by the Borgo San Rocco Centre for Popular Traditions
5.30 p.m. Departure of the funeral procession
Route: Via Lantieri, Piazza S. Antonio, Piazza Cavour, Via Marconi, Via Mazzini, Piazza del Municipio, Via Garibaldi and the gardens of Corso Verdi.
