Lubejzn je u zraki (model building meeting)

An aerial-dance spectacle called 'Lubejzn je u zraki' (Love Is in the Air) will premiere under the leadership of Jurij Batagelj, a world-renowned dancer, choreographer and lover of vintage cars and aviation.

On 31 August, from 10 a.m. (official programme at 6.00 p.m.), the airport in Vipava will host the 1st International Meeting of Model Builders of War Aircraft and Vintage Vehicles. The event will be enriched with dancing, live music and a swing dance evening, as well as various activities during the day, which will surely enchant you and take you back to the authentic atmosphere of the 1940s.

Jurij Batagelj, known for some of the most acclaimed dance performances in Slovenia, has this time combined his passion for dance and music with aviation. A passionate modeller since he was a young boy, he has been living his dream by building and flying legendary model airplanes, which he will present through a unique story and enthral us with performances by renowned Slovenian and foreign modelling groups.

For the first time in Slovenia, we will combine attractive aviation performances with dance performances in one place and witness an unforgettable story that will take us back in time to the history of the development of aviation, music and dance from the 1920s to the 1950s. Owners of vintage civilian and military vehicles will also be on hand to add to the atmosphere. The day-long event will also have an educational value, offering visitors an insight into a part of history through interactive activities and workshops.

Special emphasis will be placed on activities for children, who will learn new skills and knowledge through play and various additional activities. We will also add to the fun with an unforgettable swing dance evening, where you will be able to learn some basic dance steps in a short swing dance workshop, and then enjoy live music, socialising and dancing. Get ready for a day of excitement, culture and nostalgia in the spirit of the 1940s.
