"Paper Stories" represents a special stage of the cross-border festival "Slovenian Kamishibai Festival," a prestigious Slovenian stage for the most talented Kamishibai artists, rethought and readapted by the Kulturni center Lojze Bratuž to the peculiar historical-cultural and linguistic context of the Gorizia region. It will be a multidisciplinary project that will embrace, in addition to theater, historical-ethnographic popularization, the oral tradition of the area, visual arts, and education for local and cross-border school students including different cultures and languages.

On Friday, 6 September 2024 at 8.30 p.m. at Palazzo de Grazia (Gorizia), the history of Gorizia in the 20th century will be told through the universal language of kamishibai in Friulian, Slovene and Italian, referring to events and testimonies of ordinary people and illustrious citizens linked to the city, such as the Rusjan brothers (aviators), Giuseppe Ungaretti (poet), Max Fabiani (architect), Lyduska De Nordis (emancipated and cosmopolitan noblewoman)...

On Saturday, 7 September 2024, selected Slovenian kamishibaia will perform. They will present over 35 of the best kamishibai for 2024. Family programme at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., adult programme at 9 p.m.

Sunday, 8 September 2024 at 11:00 a.m. debate on kamishibai, at 12:00 noon award ceremony.
