All summer long the event series Summer in Vipavski Križ entices visitors to come to the picturesque piazza with its myriad concerts, intriguing theatre shows and a selection of gripping documentaries.

Summer in Vipavski Križ Music, theatre and films within medieval walls

The picture-book settlement of Vipavski Križ, a fortified medieval town at the heart of the Vipava Valley, is considered one of the grandest monuments of cultural history in the country. A stroll down the narrow alleys of Vipavski Križ and a jaunt to the famous Capuchin monastery are always worthwhile pursuits. The castle courtyard, cellar and the town's main piazza – plac as it is referred to by locals – are increasingly sought-after as great venues for cultural, ethnologic and culinary events. The renovated piazza charms visitors with its architecture, and has been holding summer music events for a few years. Now it beckons tourists to Vipavski Križ with a varied cultural offering throughout the entire summer.

With its seat in Nova Gorica, the NOVA Music Society brings together musicians from the Vipava Valley, and has put together a summer programme in Vipavski Križ that is diverse both in terms of content and genre. In July and August the piazza awaits with a different kind of cultural experience: visit a concert, attend a theatre show or go see an open-air movie.

After the concert or show you can take in the unique atmosphere of the medieval town and sip on a glass of great local wine in the Wine Shop & Gift Shop Darovi Vipavske.
