ITB Berlin is the leading platform for the tourism industry, where organisations from all over the world present themselves at stands, conferences and other side events. This year, Slovenia will also take part in the fair, which will take place from 5 to 7 March, under the auspices of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB). The overarching theme set by the STB for the fair this year is culture and art, and for this reason the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica-Gorizia has been invited as well. Our project has been given an opportunity to present itself at the world's largest tourism trade fair and to invite the whole world to destinations in Slovenia.
Slovenia will highlight the GO! 2025 project, and representatives from the Institute will provide entertainment at the stand. A new promotional video and a new brochure for cultural events and tourism have been produced for the occasion and will attract visitors with inspiring images and interesting content from the European Capital of Culture. Perhaps the most exciting part of the exhibition stand will be the space itself, which will be a recreation of the Transalpina Square or Trg Evrope in Slovenian (the Europe Square), a monument on the border between Slovenia and Italy. For the business public, a finishing touch to the visit to our stand will be a souvenir – a graphic art by Slovenian artist Zora Stančič, who has created an original visual experience linked to the ECC mission especially for this occasion.
GO! 2025 will also link up with the German city of Chemnitz, also holding the title the European Capital of Culture in 2025. Colleagues from the two capitals (who have been working well together for a long time) are preparing a joint presentation of the two (or rather three) cities, inviting cultural tourists to the connected European cities at the same time.
So don't forget to follow us on social media next week – our team will provide a thorough account on their experience in Berlin.
