Railway connection between Villach and Nova Gorica.
On 12 April, as part of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia, a daily train will start running on the Soča line between the twin city of Villach and Nova Gorica. The route, which already linked Salzburg and Trieste in 1906, will thus be revived in the spirit of nostalgic travel.
The train will leave Villach at 7:45 and arrive in Nova Gorica at 11:00 during the week, and will run at 8:08 on weekends, arriving at 10:21. The return journey from Nova Gorica will depart daily at 15:53.
The new rail link not only brings better opportunities for passengers, but also a unique experience through the picturesque Soča Valley.
