PORDENONE
Galleria Harry Bertoia Tfvg 50965

The exhibition venue was named after Harry Bertoia (1915-1978), known to the general public for his work in the field of design.
The famous Diamond (1951-'52), a chair-sculpture in steel rods, open and conversing into space, which he described as "a sculpture made of air and of steel", is a classic in all the design history books. His extraordinary story of creativity, however, is also evidenced by sculptures, drawings, engravings, creations of jewellery and objects of design, now exhibited in museums throughout the world.
Arieto Bertoia, who was born in 1915 at San Lorenzo in Arzene, a few kilometres from Pordenone, left his country of origin in 1930 to move to America where he devoted himself to design, and to the art of engraving and sculpture. The current architectural complex of Palazzo Spelladi is the result of events that have occurred over the centuries. The original structure dates back at least to the beginning of the fourteenth century.
