In the middle of the tiny historical village of Vistorta - in Western Friuli - there's the agricultural estate of the Brandolini family, who have owned it since 1872. The beautiful manor house overlooks 7 hectares of English-style park containing century-old trees, rare essences and an orchid greenhouse. Originally the cellar was housed in the barchessa (portico building) adjacent the villa, where the barrels and tools of a glorious past are still preserved. It is currently located in the 18th century barchessa (portico building) of Cordignano. This is where, with the help of simple and straightforward winemaking equipment, what nature has generously provided is transformed. Vistorta was among the very first wine production companies to plant Merlot after the scourge of phylloxera. Brandino Brandolini d'Adda has been in charge of the company since the 1980s, keeping the precious centuries-old Merlot vines safe and secure. In 2008 some vineyards were added that are managed according to organic farming practices and produce grapes that have delicate and unique characteristics.
