Saint Martin's Hike around Brda

Saint Martin's Hike around Brda

St Martin's Day hike to discover the cultural heritage and gastronomy of Brda.

11/10/2024

In autumn, when nature calms down a bit and offers a colourful palette of colours, we will go on Saint Martin's hike to learn about the cultural heritage and enogastronomy of Brda. As part of this year's St Martin's Day, the Mountaineering association of Brda (Planinsko društvo Brda) invites you to the 6th St Martin's Day hike on Sunday 10th November. The route will take us along the river Reka and then climb through the village of Snežeče towards the summit of Log. We will pass vineyards and orchards.  At Log, we will have our first look around Brda and then continue to Višnjevik, the birthplace of Rebula. We will make our first stop at the village hall, where we will have a little refreshment before continuing our journey. We will climb a little further to the ridge road, from where we will have views in all directions, across the whole of Brda and far into the Friulian plain. There is the highest point of the hike. The path will slowly start to turn left and head west. Passing through the area called Šebeč, we will reach the village of Slavče. Fortunately, from there we will not descend into any of the valleys, but will follow the ridge to Šlovrenec. Along the way we will stop at a local winemaker's where we will taste his wines and have a bite to eat. We will then descend into the valley of the Šebeč stream and continue through the vineyards back to the wine cellar Klet Brda, where we will finish our hike and enjoy a St Martin's plate. Come and experience some of the secrets of autumn in Brda. Welcome!
