Architectonic. Ivan Antić architect (1923-2005)

The event is proposed in two phases: the first, a thematic exhibition (8-15 May) at the university center of Gorizia related to the activity of Ivan Antić in the cities of the former Yugoslavia; the second, a conference related to the relationships between Antić and functionalist architecture in the Region (13 May). Participating in the event: University of Trieste (co-organizer); the General Consulate of Serbia in Trieste; the Chamber of Architects of the Littoral, Nova Gorica; the Order of Architects PPC of Gorizia. the Cultural Association Zemlja, Sacile (co-organizer).

Learning from Ivan Antić. Relations with functionalist architecture in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Ivan Antić (Belgrade, 3 December 1923 - 25 November 2005) was a Serbian architect and academic considered one of the best and most prolific designers in post-war Yugoslavia.

He worked on the realization of various interventions, some of which were realized with his colleague Ivanka Raspopović.

The multiplicity of his works, which have earned numerous awards and recognitions, includes a large number of realizations and projects, some of which are considered masterpieces of the most recent Serbian architecture.

Among these various interventions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Novi Beograd (Ušće, 1960-1965), the Memorial “21 October” in Kragujevać (Šumarice, 1968-1975) and the Sports and Recreation Centre “25 May” in Belgrade (1971-1973) have assumed an iconic and paradigmatic value for understanding the relevance of an unrepeatable season of architecture in Serbia, that of the second half of the twentieth century.

The exhibition with its catalogue proposed in Gorizia twenty years after the death of the professional and fifty years after the anthological exhibition in Belgrade in 1975, also represents the first monograph dedicated to the architect produced in Italy.
