The renovated Museum on the Border collection in Miren

As part of the Museum on the Border project, Goriški muzej has prepared a new exhibition entitled "Vsemir", replacing the previous one "Remember me" in Miren (at the entrance to the cemetery).

The "Vsemir" exhibition tells a story about the border that cut the Miren Cemetery in two in 1947, dividing it between Yugoslavia and Italy. The border crossed the graves, separating not only the living but also the dead and wreaking havoc on the eternal peace of the cemetery. ‘Vsemir’, a Slovenian word meaning “universe”, is something all-encompassing, something that is common to us all, a space that invites us to stop for a moment, to reflect and question the limits of man and humanity.

The cultural programme at the opening is designed by the students of the Nova Gorica Music School.

Hours: every day from 9:00 to 21:00, from 5 February 2025 onwards.

Free admission.

The exhibition is financed by the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorica, the City Municipality of Nova Gorica, the Municipality of Miren - Kostanjevica and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
