XXI NATIONS TOURNAMENT

The 21st edition of the Tournament of Nations is one of the most prestigious youth football events in the world and will take place in Gradisca d'Isonzo and other venues in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Slovenia and Austria from 24 April to 1 May 2025.This high-level international event will see national under-15 teams from the five continents take part, with over 500 young athletes representing the future of world football. Included in the official FIGC calendar and/or approved by the FIGC, LND, UEFA and FIFA, the tournament receives extensive media coverage thanks to the broadcasting of the matches on Udinese TV and Media 24 (or other similar channels) for the Italian public and the distribution of television rights in various countries.

The organisation also collaborates with a leading international agency, Wiscout, for scouting coverage, making the event an important showcase for young talent. The active involvement of various local associations, together with collaboration with the host municipalities, enriches the tournament programme with cultural and tourist initiatives.

The national delegations and their fans will have the opportunity to discover the historical and cultural beauties of the region, contributing to an important tourist promotion. The matches, of a high technical level, will take place over eight days and will see promising young players representing nations from all over the world.

The programme also includes side events; in fact, alongside the competitions, the tournament includes cultural initiatives and educational activities. A regional school competition will involve local schools. Internationally renowned testimonials will enrich the experience.

Among the many testimonials, in past years, the following have already given their support: MAURIZIO VISCIDI, national youth manager for Italy, BRUNO PIZZUL, world-famous commentator, EDI REJA, professional coach, MARINA PRESELLO, Sky Sport journalist, FRANCO COLLAVINO, general manager of Udinese Calcio, SANDI LOVRIC, midfielder for Udinese Calcio.

The Tournament of Nations, which began in 2004 as ‘United Europe’ on the occasion of the accession of ten new countries to the European Community, was conceived by Giorgio Brandolin, then President of the Province of Gorizia, and Franco Tommasini, then Mayor of Gradisca d'Isonzo, to promote cross-border integration through sport.

A unique feature was the inclusion of the mixed Italian-Slovenian team ‘FC Go&Go’, which ended in 2012 due to FIFA restrictions. Since 2008 the tournament has been open to non-European teams, starting with Israel, and in 2009 it became a ‘Tournament of Nations’, with the participation of Italy, Slovenia and Austria.

The U15 national teams play in these three countries and since 2013 there have been 12 men's teams and eight women's teams participating, with Italy and Slovenia present since the first edition.
