March Slovenian Film Cycle brings Gram of Heart across the border

In March, we will be taking a journey into the shocking reality of filmmaking with the film Gram of Heart with Italian subtitles, a new documentary by director Jan Cvitkovič, as part of the Slovenian Film in Italy Series. It will be screened on 10 March 2025 at 8 pm at the Palazzo del Cinema - Hiša filma in Gorizia. On the streets of Ljubljana, the director enters the world of addicts, talks to them and listens to their stories. The film does not seek sensationalism, but rather presents the lives of those facing addiction in a genuine and honest way. Gram of Heart is not just a documentary about addiction, but a film about the lack of warmth and security in childhood, a void that individuals try to fill, but can never be completely filled. Cvitkovič and director of photography Aleksander Petric explored the streets of Ljubljana without a pre-scripted script, filming conversations and searching for beauty in a world where there seems to be none. The film was made in collaboration with producer Boštjan Brezovnik, with editing by Miloš Kalusek and sound by Boštjan Kačičnik. The European Capital of Culture year GO! 2025 brings the extension of the Slovenian Film in Italy series to several cities in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The series, which for many years has transcended linguistic borders and brought together audiences on both sides, will this year, in addition to Gorizia, where it will take place at the House of Cinema, also be hosted in Trieste in cooperation with the partner organisation La Cappella Underground, in Udine in cooperation with the Visionario cinema, in Pordenone in cooperation with Cinemazero, in Spiethro in cooperation with the Slovene Multimedia Window (SMO) - Narrative and Provincial Museum, and in Staranci in cooperation with the Dobialab association. The programme offers a rich selection of contemporary Slovenian films, including the winners of the Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož. The series is produced in cooperation with the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad and Worldwide, and is part of the official programme of the ECOC GO! 2025.
