Slovenian film series with Cent'anni on the emotional and cycling detours of life

In March, we will open the doors to spring and set off on a cycling tour of Italy with the documentary Cent'anni by Maja Doroteja Prelog. Through a sporting feat, the film reveals an intimate insight into a relationship that is tested under the weight of unprocessed emotions. As part of the Slovenian Film in Italy series, Cent'anni will be screened on 13 March at the Palazzo del Cinema - Hiša filma, with Italian and English subtitles. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director, who will share insights into the making of the film and the story she has woven both behind and in front of the camera. Subtitles provided by the Alpe Adria Cinema Film Festival of Trieste, production by UNDERLIGHT - Evelyn Dewald.

Cent'anni, without being pathetic, but with a sensitive film poetics, opens up a space for reflection. The camera follows Blaž Muren as he embarks on one of the most challenging cycling journeys - the legendary Giro d'Italia - after recovering from a serious illness. He is accompanied by his life and film companion, director Maja Doroteja Prelog, who captures through the camera not only the sporting and physical ordeal, but also the shifts in their relationship, where perseverance on the road is intertwined with inner struggles and unspoken emotions. The film is produced under the auspices of the Cvinger Film production company, and produced by Rok Biček. Cent'anni won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Trieste Film Festival and the Special Award for Promoting Gender Equality at the Sarajevo Film Festival. The European Capital of Culture year GO! 2025 will see the extension of the Slovenian Film in Italy series to several cities in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
