èStoriaBus: The Bourbon Exile

After a successful first èStoriaBus BeWoP event, the next one is on the way and will take place on Saturday 16 November. This time, the excursion will be dedicated to the exile of the French royal family of Bourbon, who fled their homeland during the Revolution and found refuge in Gorizia.

The èStoriaBus - an attractive and different way to learn about cultural heritage, which has been implemented for many years by the Gorizia èStoria International Festival of History, is being developed and extended thanks to the project ‘Beyond Walk of Peace: from Crossborder Historical Research and Cultural Heritage to European Trail and Stories’, financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the Interreg VI-A ITA-SLO 2021-2027 Programme.

Project partners include the lead partner Fundacija Poti miru v Posočju, GECT GO, ZRC SAZU, PromoTurismoFVG, the Municipality of Miren Kostanjevica and the Cultural Association èStoria. After a successful first èStoriaBus event, the next one is coming up on Saturday 16 November. This time, the excursion will focus on the exile of the French royal family of Bourbon, who fled their homeland during the Revolution and found refuge in Habsburg Gorizia in the 19th century.

The itinerary will also provide an opportunity to discover the sumptuous aristocratic residences (Villa Coronini, Palazzo Strassoldo), the lush gardens and prayer spaces (such as the Kostanjevica Monastery), which still hold the remains of Charles X, Henry V and other members of the family. Guided tours will be provided in Slovenian and Italian.
