Crossroads of Europe - Like two sisters: 20th century architecture between Gorizia and Nova Gorica

Crossroads of Europe - Like two sisters: 20th century architecture between Gorizia and Nova Gorica

CTA - Centro Regionale Teatro Animazione e Figure proposes a look at the architecture of the early 20th century, protagonist of the transformation of Gorizia after the First World War, up to the construction of a new city after the Peace Treaty of 1947. The chance encounter of two young girls develops into a passionate search along the streets and buildings of the two cities. The route begins at the Trgovski Dom in Gorizia, designed in 1903 by Max Fabiani, and ends at Bevkov Trg, where there is a model of Edvard Ravnikar's urban planning project for Nova Gorica.   Thanks to the support of audio headphones, historical buildings will be described and the figure of those who designed them will be outlined, such as Casa Krasceh and the Opera Nazionale Balilla building (both by Umberto Cuzzi). We will listen to architect Diego Kuzmin's precious interview with Edvard Ravnikar recorded in 1992, a year before his death.   Project by Roberto Piaggio and Antonella Caruzzi, text by Claudio Parrino.   Meeting point: Treatrino del Trgovski dom, Corso Verdi Departure: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Duration: approx. 2 hours
