Polcenigo

Visit the village, considered among the most beautiful in Italy. It's a point of tourist interest, rich in historical, artistic, and natural attractions.

A village with a remarkable charm which also includes a Unesco site in its territory
The municipality of Polcenigo, not far from Pordenone, comprises the hamlets of Coltura, Mezzomonte, San Giovanni, Gorgazzo, Range and Santissima.

The Municipality is of significant tourist interest due to a series of historical, artistic, natural, accommodation and catering elements, some of which are really exceptional. Polcenigo features the Museum of Culinary Art, which recalls all the generations of cooks emigrated all over the world.

Polcenigo is a few kilometres from the Cansiglio Forest, which is perfectly equipped for tours and hikes. Its link to water is extremely strong. The sources of the Gorgazzo, crystal clear waters that spring from a Karst cavity, made charming by the plays of light that filter from the rocks, are extremely fascinating.

Nearby, in an area of great natural and landscape interest, it is possible to admire the large and spectacular sources of the Livenza river that, although emerging a few dozens metres above sea level, give rise to a waterway with a considerable flow. The Holy Trinity Church stands in this setting: built between the fourteenth century and the sixteenth century, it features a majestic 17th-century wooden altar with an aedicule by Domenico from Tolmezzo (of 1496), a precious wooden choir, various altar-pieces and many frescoes.

The "Europark" Rural Park of San Floriano extends over an area of about 65 hectares: it is the only example of natural and rural park in Italy, a guided educational reserve that preserves precious local flora and fauna, at whose top there is a church built before the year 1000, which features valuable frescoes.

A typical three-century-old event in Polgenigo is the sagra dei sést, that is to say, the festival of baskets and, more generally, of wicker, of rush and of raffia, which takes place on the first Sunday of September.

Moreover, in the territory between Polcenigo and Caneva you can admire an UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Palù di Livenza, one of the oldest Palaeolithic sites in northern Italy, listed in the "Prehistoric pile-dwelling sites in the Alps".
