Sea Museum

Visit the Sea Museum of Trieste and its section dedicated to the collection of the Lloyd shipping company, featuring ship models, publications, maps, and nautical instruments that tell its history.

For the wealth of its collections, the Museo del Mare (Museum of the Sea) in Trieste is one of the major institutes of its kind in the Mediterranean area. Also for this reason, the Municipality of Trieste has decided to transfer the museum from its old location in Via Campo Marzio to Magazzino 26 at the Porto Vecchio.

Work on setting up the new museum is still in progress, but a section can be visited that is dedicated to the Lloyd collection, the shipping company that influenced the maritime history of Trieste. A multitude of objects, including models of ships, publications, nautical charts and instruments, silverware and porcelainware are expertly displayed in the large spaces of Magazzino 26 telling the story of the company and its fleet, and about life on board large cruise ships, including meals and entertainment.
