For the wealth of its collections, the Museo del Mare (Museum of the Sea) in Trieste is one of the major institutes of its kind in the Mediterranean area. Also for this reason, the Municipality of Trieste has decided to transfer the museum from its old location in Via Campo Marzio to Magazzino 26 at the Porto Vecchio.Work on setting up the new museum is still in progress, but a section can be visited that is dedicated to the Lloyd collection, the shipping company that influenced the maritime history of Trieste. A multitude of objects, including models of ships, publications, nautical charts and instruments, silverware and porcelainware are expertly displayed in the large spaces of Magazzino 26 telling the story of the company and its fleet, and about life on board large cruise ships, including meals and entertainment.

Zaradi bogastva svojih zbirk je tržaški Pomorski muzej ena vodilnih tovrstnih ustanov v Sredozemlju. Tudi zato se je tržaška občina odločila, da muzej preseli s stare lokacije v ulici Campo Marzio v Staro pristanišče (Porto vecchio) na lokacijo Magazzino 26.
Dela v novem muzeju še potekajo, vendar si je že mogoče ogledati del, posvečen zbirki Lloyda, ladjarske družbe, ki je zaznamovala pomorsko zgodovino Trsta. Okoli tisoč predmetov, med katerimi so modeli ladij, publikacije, karte in navtični instrumenti, srebrnina in porcelan, je na ogled po velikih prostorih Magazzina 26 in tako pripoveduje zgodbo podjetja in njegovih ladij, od življenja na krovu velikih potniških ladij do kosil in zabavi na njih.
