Lead partner: Jewish Community of Trieste.
Since the 1500s Gorizia, also called the Jerusalem on the Isonzo, has been home to an important Jewish community that was almost completely annihilated during the Shoah. The GoJGo project aims to enhance and make usable the paths related to the Jewish presence throughout the Italian and Slovenian Gorizia area. In order to enhance the elements present in the area, the project identifies three strategies: in the first phase, a training course will be organized by the Jewish Community of Trieste for tour guides for a total of six months; in the second phase, symbolic places of the Jewish presence will be made usable to visitors through augmented reality. Finally, a website will be created as a guide to discovering the cross-border area from a Jewish perspective. The site will be available in five languages: Italian, Slovenian, German, English and Hebrew. Collaboration with local authorities, universities and cultural organizations will contribute to the realization of this sustainable project.
The project is financed by the European Union through the GO! 2025 Small Project Fund of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme, managed by the EGTC GO.
