Between the village of Kojsko in the Goriška brda and the village of Topolò in the Nadiža Valley, a special orchard sprouts that collects and tells the story of the historical legacy of the landscape and community. The Uncommon Fruits project aims to raise awareness of environmental issues and share them with the community through work to restore and enhance fruit trees. The project is divided into four phases of work: during the first phase an architecture will be built in Kojsko that will host workshops and tasting of orchard products, while in Topolò three landscape recovery zones will be created. The second phase will involve mapping and collection of landscape-related infromations necessary for the installation of a biodiversity library. In the third phase, workshops will be organized for local restaurateurs on fruit processing, fermentation and storage techniques from the information collected. Finally, the return of the three intial phases will take place through a publication, a radio program and a multi-day walk in the territories. The initiative involves experts, artists and the local community to recover abandoned orchards, promote sustainable practices and create new products.
